US sees 'real progress' on framework for hostage release, says senior official

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Hamas's conditions for a new hostage deal. The United States does not support an Israeli military operation in Rafah without a plan to ensure the safety of civilians.
