US Senate advances 'enormously high stakes' $95 billion Ukraine, Israel aid package

The US Senate is advancing a $95.34 billion aid package for Ukraine and Israel, despite uncertainty over House Republicans' support. The measure has cleared an important procedural hurdle and Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer aims to push it through two more hurdles for passage on Wednesday. President Joe Biden has been urging Congress to provide aid to Ukraine and US partners in the Indo-Pacific, as well as funds for Israel and humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza. However, the bill must pass the House, which has not passed major aid for Ukraine since Republicans took control in 2023.
