Report: Israel sent UN plan for taking apart Palestinian refugee agency

Israel has submitted a proposal to the UN to dismantle UNRWA, the agency for Palestinian refugees, and transfer some employees and assets to other UN agencies or a new organization. The plan lacks clear details and has reached the desk of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Israel argues that UNRWA perpetuates victimhood and engages in anti-Israel education, while others blame Israel's lack of cooperation with the organization for the poor distribution of aid in Gaza. UNRWA spokesperson Tamara Alrifai states that replacing UNRWA in the middle of a crisis would be nearly impossible due to its size and reach.
