Officials warn killing of NGO workers imperils Gaza aid, could stymie Israel's war goals

Israel risks losing partners to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza after an Israeli airstrike killed seven people working for the World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid group. WCK has halted its operations and other agencies and countries have paused aid efforts, leaving large parts of Gaza facing hunger and starvation. US and Israeli officials are concerned that this could force Israel to shift its war goals in Gaza, as continued support for the war on Hamas depends on Israel allowing and facilitating aid to Gaza's civilian population. The United Arab Emirates has paused humanitarian aid efforts through the Gaza maritime corridor pending an investigation into the deadly strike and assurances from Israel that aid workers will be protected.
