Report: US tells Israel its Rafah evacuation plan not viable in 'harsh' video call

A virtual meeting between US and Israeli officials to discuss a potential IDF ground operation in Rafah was reportedly tense, with the US expressing skepticism over Israeli plans. The US representatives criticized the IDF's evacuation proposal for noncombatants in Rafah as unimpressive and not implementable. They also expressed deep concern about the threat of famine in Gaza. The US made it clear that Israel needs to provide a viable 'day after' plan for the post-war management of Gaza and a credible evacuation plan for Rafah to receive American approval for an operation. Israel agreed to take into account US concerns and hold a follow-up meeting in Washington.
