The head of the UN's Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) denies knowing that an employee was a Hamas commander in Lebanon, and calls on states to push back against Israeli attacks on the agency's reputation. The employee was suspended in March following allegations concerning his politics. UNRWA has been under scrutiny for evidence of members' involvement in terror activities, and Israel has accused the agency of employing members of Hamas and other terror groups. Several donor countries cut aid to the agency after evidence was provided that employees took part in a Hamas-led attack, but many have since reinstated their support.
