Syrian rebels opposed to President Bashar Assad have reached the heart of Aleppo after a surprise sweep through government-held towns. Led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the rebels launched an incursion into a dozen towns and villages in the northern province of Aleppo. They quickly made progress and are now sweeping through various neighborhoods of the city. This comes nearly a decade after the rebels were forced out of Aleppo.
