Rebels' advances in Syria spell short-term benefits, potential trouble for Israel, intel chiefs said to tell PM

Israeli intelligence chiefs have warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the advances of jihadist rebels in Syria could spell trouble for Israel in the long term. The rebels have reportedly captured much of the Iranian infrastructure in Syria, which could shift Hezbollah's attention and forces towards defending the Assad regime. This could potentially strengthen the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire and widen Israel's freedom of military operation. However, the intelligence chiefs also cautioned that the collapse of the Assad regime could lead to chaos and increased military threats against Israel.
