Israeli authorities have released Abdullah Balawi, a Jordanian doctor who was detained in December while attempting to cross into the Gaza Strip for a medical relief mission. Balawi's release came after intensive diplomatic efforts by Jordan, and he was returned through diplomatic channels at the Sheikh Hussein Bridge. Balawi stated that his mission as a doctor is to relieve those who need help. Jordan has launched several medical, airlift, and aid relief missions to assist Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023.
