A Byzantine monastery with a colorful mosaic floor and a sophisticated winepress has been uncovered in Israel. The site, dating back to the 5th-6th centuries CE, is the largest and most significant discovered in the region from the Roman and Byzantine periods. The mosaic floor features intricate designs and a quote from Deuteronomy. The excavation also revealed a highly sophisticated winepress decorated with mosaics. The mosaic floor will be relocated to a public area for visitors to access.
