A Palestinian prisoner convicted of the 1989 rape and murder of 13-year-old Oren Baharami is set to be released as part of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement, according to a report by Haaretz. Ahmed Mahmed Jameel Shahada, who was sentenced to life in prison for the crime, was not convicted of terrorism, as the court ruled the act was criminally motivated. Despite this, Shahada is reportedly included among 250 Palestinian prisoners to be freed in exchange for hostages held in Gaza. The victim's mother expressed shock and confusion over the decision, stating that the family was never informed about the possibility of his release.
