Katz accused Tomer-Yerushalmi of spreading false accusations against soldiers and prioritizing the welfare of detainees over the military. However, under military protocols, Katz does not have the authority to demote senior officers, as such actions require a military court, tribunal, or the chief of staff. Tomer-Yerushalmi met with the chief of staff and requested to resign amid the controversy.
