New satellite imagery analyzed by researchers from Yale University indicates that mass killings are likely ongoing in and around El-Fasher, Sudan, following the city's capture by the Rapid Support Forces. The paramilitary group seized control after an 18-month siege, ousting the regular army from its last position in Darfur. Since the takeover, there have been reports of summary executions, sexual violence, attacks on aid workers, looting, and abductions, with communications in the area largely severed. The Yale Humanitarian Research Lab identified at least 31 clusters resembling human bodies across various locations, suggesting a significant portion of the population may be dead, captured, or in hiding.
