Families in Gaza continue to live without electricity despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas last month. Hanan al-Joujou and her family rely on flashlights and candles, often going without food when they cannot afford to charge their devices. Many displaced residents, like the al-Joujou family, have been without power since the war began more than two years ago, and the destruction of Gaza's electrical grid has left them with few options for light or energy.
Some residents have tried to set up charging points using solar power or private generators, but these efforts are often hampered by damage from airstrikes and the high cost of equipment. The lack of electricity affects daily life, forcing families to end activities at sunset and making it difficult for children to study. Despite the ceasefire, the humanitarian situation remains dire, with many struggling to meet basic needs.
