Deceased hostage returned by Hamas identified as Meny Godard, from Kibbutz Be'eri

The body of Meny Godard, a resident of Kibbutz Be'eri who was killed during the October 7 attack, has been returned to Israel by Hamas after forensic identification. Godard, aged 73, was murdered alongside his wife Ayelet by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists, and his body was subsequently taken to Gaza. The couple is survived by their children, grandchildren, and siblings. Earlier this year, Israeli troops recovered personal belongings of Godard at a militant post in Rafah, but his body remained in Gaza until now. According to a joint statement from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the body was found in the Khan Younis area. Three slain hostages' bodies are still held in Gaza, including two Israelis and one Thai national. The Israeli government expressed condolences to the Godard family and reaffirmed its commitment to retrieving the remaining hostages' bodies.
