Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called for sustained peace in Gaza and renewed support for a two-state solution at the 10th Regional Forum of Foreign Ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean in Barcelona. Safadi condemned the ongoing occupation and violence in Gaza and the West Bank, highlighting recent displacement and economic hardship faced by Palestinians. He urged adherence to international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, while welcoming Syria's restoration of membership to the forum and emphasizing the need for reconstruction and protection of sovereignty.
Safadi also participated in the launch of the Mediterranean Charter, describing it as a key framework for regional cooperation, and announced Jordan's commitment to the forthcoming action plan. At a joint press conference, he stressed the urgency of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, and preventing forced displacement. Safadi denounced recent attacks in the West Bank and Syria, reaffirmed Jordan's readiness to deliver aid to Gaza, and held bilateral meetings to strengthen regional and European cooperation.
