Officials say no handover of slain hostages Monday, after talk of possible return

Defense officials announced Monday that Hamas would not be returning the body of a slain hostage, despite earlier indications that a handover might occur. The remains of two hostages killed during the October 7, 2023 attack, Israeli policeman Ran Gvili and Thai national Sudthisak Rinthalak, are still believed to be in Gaza. Reports suggested that Hamas and the Red Cross were searching specific areas for the bodies, but no handover took place and Hamas denied having the remains. Israeli officials have accused Hamas of staging search operations for media attention, while families of the hostages continue to demand their loved ones' return as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
