The United Kingdom has criticized Israel for significant delays in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, highlighting that over 1,100 tents funded by the United Kingdom took more than a year to arrive. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper expressed frustration that other aid shipments have also failed to reach Palestinians, despite a ceasefire agreement. The United Nations has warned that 1.5 million people in Gaza urgently need shelter as winter conditions worsen, with nearly 90 percent of the population displaced since October 2023. Cooper called for all crossings into Gaza to be opened and for unimpeded access for aid, emphasizing that further delays cannot be allowed. The newly arrived tents are expected to provide shelter for up to 12,000 Palestinians, but officials stress that much more assistance is required.
