Trump greenlights Nvidia H200 AI chip sales to China, says 25% of revenue will go to

President Donald Trump announced that the United States will permit Nvidia to sell its H200 artificial intelligence chips to selected customers in China and other countries, under conditions designed to safeguard national security. Trump stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping responded positively to the plan, which includes a provision requiring 25 percent of the revenue from these sales to be paid to the United States. He argued that this policy will support American jobs, strengthen manufacturing, and benefit taxpayers.

Trump criticized previous export restrictions, claiming they forced U.S. companies to invest billions in developing less desirable chips for China, ultimately slowing innovation and harming American workers. He clarified that the deal does not cover Nvidia's most advanced chips, with U.S. customers already transitioning to newer processors not included in the arrangement. The Commerce Department is finalizing the details, and similar rules will apply to other American chipmakers selling to China.
