Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are leading sustainability initiatives in the Gulf Cooperation Council region despite their reliance on fossil fuels, according to a report commissioned by logistics firm Agility. The report compares government and business sustainability policies, investments, and actions across 17 countries in the Middle East and Africa. It highlights that businesses in Africa and the Middle East are largely unaware of the UN-led COP process for tackling climate change and that climate change is negatively affecting businesses. The report also emphasizes that green investment is expensive and that governments are taking more action on climate change than the private sector.
