No evidence yet to support hate crime charge in death of pro-Israel...

California authorities have not ruled out a hate crime in the death of a pro-Israel demonstrator, but the evidence so far only supports charges of involuntary manslaughter and battery. Loay Abdelfattah Alnaji has been charged with these offenses in the death of Paul Kessler after a physical altercation during protests over the Israel-Hamas war. Investigators are working to determine if the altercation was accompanied by specific statements or words that demonstrate hatred towards a specific group. Alnaji, a professor of computer science, had espoused pro-Palestinian views on social media. Kessler's family has requested privacy.
