France has proposed a plan to end fighting between Hezbollah and Israel at the border and settle the disputed Lebanon-Israel frontier. The plan calls for fighters, including Hezbollah's elite unit, to withdraw 10 km from the border. The proposal aims to prevent a conflict that risks spiraling out of control and envisions negotiations on the delineation of the contentious land border between Lebanon and Israel. Hezbollah has rejected formally negotiating a de-escalation until the war in Gaza ends. France has historical ties with Lebanon and has delivered the proposal to top Lebanese state officials.
