Top Iranian general is killed by suspected Israeli airstrike on Syria

A top Iranian general, General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was killed in a suspected Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria. The airstrike resulted in the death of at least seven people. Iran's foreign minister blamed Israel for the attack, calling it a breach of international conventions. Israel has been increasing its attacks on Iran's proxies in Lebanon and Syria since October 7. The strike on the consulate follows the killing of another general, Sayyed Razi Mousavi, on Christmas Day.
