White House directs NASA to create time standard for the moon

The White House has directed NASA to establish a unified standard of time for the moon and other celestial bodies. The goal is to set international norms in space as competition for lunar exploration increases. The time standard, called Coordinated Lunar Time (LTC), will provide a benchmark for lunar spacecraft and satellites that require extreme precision. Without a unified lunar time standard, data transfers between spacecraft and communication between Earth and the moon could be compromised. The implementation of LTC will require international agreements and coordination among spacefaring nations.
