IDF issues grovelling apology for deaths of aid workers on food convoy

Israel's highest-ranking officer has apologized for the deaths of seven aid workers who were killed in a drone strike on a food convoy in Gaza. The victims, including former Royal Marines and an ex-soldier, were providing security for the World Central Kitchen charity. Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) chief Herzi Halevi expressed remorse and announced that an independent investigation would be conducted. Aid agencies accused Israel of deliberately targeting their staff, and experts have warned that the killings could be a war crime.
