Hezbollah confirms that one of its senior commanders, Mohammed Nimah Nasser, has been killed in an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon. This comes after months of cross-border violence between Israel and Hezbollah, raising fears of a full-scale war. Hezbollah retaliated by launching 100 rockets and missiles at Israeli military positions. The Israeli military accused Nasser of directing numerous terror attacks and described him as the counterpart of a previously targeted Hezbollah commander. Efforts to de-escalate tensions have been made, as the UN and US warn of the catastrophic consequences of a war involving Iran and other allied groups.
