Arson case: Prosecution to appeal for increased sentence of convicts | Kanpur News - Times of India

The prosecution in the Jajmau arson case has appealed for an increased sentence for the convicts. The Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki, his brother, and two others were sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine. The prosecution has appealed against the acquittal of the accused from charges under sections 120 B/386 IPC and the punishment given under section 323/149 IPC. They have provided the relevant material to the district magistrate for making an appeal for enhancing the punishment. Meanwhile, Irfan's advocate has filed a petition in the high court against the sentence and for a stay on the sentence.
