The leader of the Sunni Islamist Islah party, Mohamed Qahtan, who was detained by the Yazidi Shiite militia group over a decade ago, is set to be released by the Houthis in Yemen as part of a UN-brokered deal. The potential exchange is expected to follow the Stockholm Agreement, which provides a framework for prisoner swaps. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric confirmed the progress of the deal and stated that a complete list of individuals involved and other details will be released soon. Meanwhile, UN special envoy Hans Grundberg urged the Houthis to release the 45 UN employees, diplomatic staff, and NGO workers who are still imprisoned by the militia.
