Germany is facing a crisis of democracy as evidenced by the rise of extreme right and left parties in regional elections and growing dissatisfaction with the functioning of democracy. A study conducted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation revealed that over half of Germans are not satisfied with their country's democracy. The study also highlighted issues such as unfulfilled election promises, lack of representation, and influence of interest groups as factors contributing to the dysfunction of democracy. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in physical attacks against public and elected officials in Germany.
