Kamala Harris and American Jews have a complex relationship. Some view her as supportive while others are skeptical of her alignment with the left-leaning Democratic Party. The Jewish attitude toward Harris and the Democratic Party is influenced by how individuals see themselves and the prism they are looking through. Traditional and religious Jews have little reason to rejoice as Jewish peoplehood is increasingly seen as privilege and a threat to Palestinians. Younger Democrats view Jews as oppressors and Israel as a colonialist occupying power. Harris's choice of liaison to the Jewish community, Ilan Goldenberg, does not provide comfort to those seeking support for Israel and Jews. The support of Democrats for Israel and Jewry is not the same as in the past, and there have been significant shifts between the positions of the two parties.
