A small asteroid about the size of two house cats is set to hit the Earth on Wednesday, September 4, a NASA-backed researcher announced, and the European Space Agency (ESA) later confirmed. The asteroid in question has been designated 2024 RW1 and is currently set to impact near the island of Luzon in the Philippines at 16:46 UTC. The asteroid is just around a meter in diameter and is not expected to cause any damage. Notably, asteroid 2024 RW1 is only the ninth-ever asteroid discovered by scientists before impacting Earth.
