Israel plans to launch a limited ground incursion into Lebanon following the assassination of Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Israeli commando units have already made brief incursions into Lebanese territory to prepare for a possible wider invasion. Hezbollah's deputy chief has stated that the group is ready for an Israeli ground offensive and will continue its fight against Israel. In addition, Israel has confirmed the killing of the head of Hamas in Lebanon, Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin, in Israeli strikes. The escalating conflict has resulted in mass casualties, assassinations, and the displacement of up to a million people.
