Over 1.1 billion people are living in acute poverty, with India having the highest number of poor people followed by Pakistan, according to a UN report. The report also highlights that 584 million children under 18 are living in extreme poverty, and the majority of the world's poorest individuals reside in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Additionally, the report notes that 40% of the 1.1 billion people living in poverty are situated in countries experiencing conflict. The UNDP and OPHI have been releasing their Multidimensional Poverty Index annually since 2010.
