Israeli prime minister in Washington for Gaza ceasefire talks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington to discuss a second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas. Netanyahu will meet with President Donald Trump to discuss victory over Hamas, dealing with Iran, and freeing all hostages. The meeting is seen as a testament to the strength of the Israeli-American alliance. The ceasefire negotiations are expected to cover the release of remaining captives and discussions on a more permanent end to the war. Trump has called for Palestinians to move to neighboring countries and has emphasized the importance of allowing Palestinians to return to their homes and land. The discussions in Washington are also expected to cover concessions Netanyahu must accept to revive normalization efforts with Saudi Arabia. Netanyahu faces pressure from his cabinet to resume the war, with the finance minister threatening to quit and strip the prime minister of his majority. On the ground, Israel has launched a major offensive in the West Bank, killing at least 50 militants and detaining more than 100 wanted individuals.
