The Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba has achieved a 48% reduction in the risk of recurrent hip fracture and a 29% drop in mortality through its Fracture Liaison Service (FLS). The FLS service identifies patients aged 50 and over who have been hospitalized with a hip fracture and offers them appropriate follow-up and treatment. The service involves multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and a research coordinator. The study found that the FLS service provided speedy provision of osteoporosis treatment and increased follow-up rates, consultations, and bone density tests, helping patients avoid further complications and improve their quality of life.
