A federal judge in Vermont decided to hold a bail hearing for detained Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk remotely on Friday, rather than waiting for her to be brought back to Vermont as previously ordered. Ozturk, a citizen of Turkey, was arrested in a Boston suburb and is being held in a Louisiana immigration detention facility. Her detention stems from her involvement in pro-Palestinian campus advocacy.
