MK Aryeh Deri, the chairman of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, prevented the Israeli government from charging pilgrims traveling to Uman a fee of NIS 330 to offset the cost of the annual pilgrimage. Deri argued that the costs should not be imposed on worshipers who save up all year to visit the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman for Rosh Hashanah.
