Representative Mike Lawler commented on the upcoming New York City mayoral race, describing former Governor Andrew Cuomo as the 'lesser of two evils' compared to Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani. Lawler made his remarks during a radio interview, emphasizing that the choice for New Yorkers is clear in his view.
Zohran Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary against Cuomo, has drawn criticism for his far-left positions and his stance on Israel. His comments following the Hamas attack in southern Israel and his refusal to condemn certain controversial phrases have sparked debate. Mamdani has also announced he will no longer use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism.
Additionally, Mamdani has accused Israel of war crimes in Gaza and has pledged to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits New York City, referencing the International Criminal Court's warrant, despite the United States not being a member of the court.
