US President Donald Trump is set to appear on '60 Minutes' this Sunday, marking his first interview with the program since settling a $16 million lawsuit with CBS News. The legal dispute stemmed from Trump's accusations of bias and deceptive editing by the network, particularly regarding an interview with Kamala Harris. Although legal experts doubted the merits of Trump's lawsuit, CBS's parent company Paramount opted for a settlement as it was finalizing a major merger. The settlement led to internal changes at CBS, including the resignation of key executives and an agreement to release future interview transcripts with presidential candidates.
Since the resolution, relations between Trump and the network appear to have improved, especially after David Ellison, whose family supports Trump, took over leadership at Paramount. The company has also made significant hires and acquisitions in the political media space, signaling a shift in its approach to news coverage. Trump's upcoming interview was conducted by Norah O'Donnell at Mar-a-Lago, though CBS has not disclosed details about the arrangement.
