Boaz Levy is set to become chairman of Israel Aerospace Industries after emerging as the consensus candidate of the defense minister and the minister in charge of government companies. His nomination follows the withdrawal of a previous candidate amid public criticism. If appointed, Levy will head a search committee to select a new chief executive to replace him.
Levy has led the government-owned defense company since 2020 and has overseen significant growth, particularly during the ongoing war. In 2025, the company reported revenue of 7.3 billion dollars, a 21 percent increase from the previous year, and a 45 percent rise in net profit. Its order backlog reached 29 billion dollars, representing roughly four years of work, with about one third of orders from Israel and two thirds from international markets.
An expert in missile and space systems, Levy joined the company in 1989 and previously headed its missile and space systems division. His expected appointment comes after more than a year of political disagreements over the chairmanship. The government is also considering partial privatization of the company, potentially selling up to 30 percent of its shares to help fund a long term expansion of national defense spending.
