A study by Teach Coalition, a division of the Orthodox Union, found that security spending at many US Jewish schools has significantly increased since October 7. The study compared spending in the 2024-2025 school year to the previous year and found an 84% increase in average spending per school, with per-pupil costs also rising. Security guards accounted for the majority of security costs, followed by property improvements and equipment. The study also revealed that security costs increased at a much higher rate compared to other expenses. Smaller schools had higher per-pupil expenses, with schools with fewer than 100 students spending an average of $1,735 per student since October 7.
