Human Rights Watch has strongly condemned Yemen's Houthi rebels for recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, labeling them as war crimes. The group stated that the Houthis deliberately targeted the Magic Seas and Eternity C cargo ships, which were clearly identifiable as civilian vessels. The attacks, which occurred as part of the Houthis' campaign against ships they allege are linked to Israel, resulted in the sinking of both vessels and left several crew members dead or missing. Human Rights Watch emphasized that there was no evidence the ships were military targets and criticized the rebels for detaining rescued crew members, which is also prohibited under the laws of war.
