Gaza's civil defense agency, overseen by Hamas, reports that at least 37 people were killed by Israeli fire on Saturday, with most of the victims being civilians waiting to collect aid. According to agency spokesman Mahmoud Bassal, twelve people died and nearly 200 were wounded near a northern border crossing used for aid deliveries, while six more were killed and thirty wounded at an aid point in central Gaza. Additional casualties were reported from strikes in central Gaza and a drone attack near Khan Younis, which allegedly included relatives of a senior Hamas leader.
The Israeli military denies targeting aid seekers, stating that it only fired warning shots at individuals considered a threat after they deviated from approved routes. The military emphasizes efforts to minimize civilian casualties and accuses Hamas of using civilians as human shields by operating from residential and public areas.
