Australia has announced the expulsion of Iran's ambassador following accusations that Tehran orchestrated two antisemitic attacks in Sydney and Melbourne. The country has faced a surge in antisemitic incidents, including vandalism and arson targeting homes, schools, synagogues, and vehicles since October 2023. In one recent case, a man was charged with arson after allegedly attacking a Melbourne synagogue while worshippers were inside. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described these acts as dangerous aggression intended to undermine social cohesion. Australia has also suspended its embassy operations in Tehran and plans to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.
