The pilgrimage, which centers on visiting the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov during Rosh Hashanah, has faced increasing restrictions since the Russian invasion, with a nationwide ban on mass gatherings still in effect. Ukrainian officials have expressed frustration over what they see as insufficient support from Israel, requesting both financial aid and a police presence should the pilgrimage proceed. Meanwhile, Moldova is also demanding significant logistical and financial commitments from Israel, including funding for a temporary airport terminal and enhanced security measures, with a deadline set for early September.
