A Syrian government-led committee has concluded that most reports of Alawite women being kidnapped during recent violence were unfounded. After investigating 42 cases, the committee found only one confirmed kidnapping, with the victim safely returned. The remaining cases involved women leaving with romantic partners, temporary absences, fleeing domestic violence, false social media claims, extortion, or criminal activity. Authorities urge citizens and organizations to report suspected incidents directly to the Interior Ministry. The probe comes amid ongoing sectarian violence that has affected the Alawite community.
