Families in Gaza, displaced by ongoing conflict, have sought shelter in cemeteries, living among gravestones and the remains of the dead. In Khan Younis, around 30 families have set up tents in a sun-baked cemetery, using gravestones as makeshift furniture and coping with fear and discomfort, especially at night. Many have lost their homes to the war and have no other options, as Israeli forces control their neighborhoods and resources are scarce. Despite the ceasefire, life remains difficult, with families struggling to find safety and dignity amid the graves. The war has disrupted burial customs and led to further hardship, as cemeteries themselves have been targeted in the fighting.
