Experts at a major respiratory health conference in Nagpur have raised alarms about the growing threats to children's lung health from pollution and pigeon droppings. International and national specialists highlighted the under-recognised burden of cystic fibrosis, the dangers of hypersensitivity pneumonitis due to pigeon droppings, and the severe impact of environmental pollution on young lungs. Data presented showed that air pollution from sources like construction dust, vehicle emissions, and firecrackers can cause lasting respiratory harm, with children at risk of developing chronic lung diseases much earlier in life. The conference concluded with calls for urgent policy changes, public awareness, and a shift towards safer asthma treatments to protect the next generation's respiratory health.
