Egypt has cautioned the United States not to underestimate the remaining military capabilities within the Gaza Strip, warning that attacks against Israel are still possible despite ongoing conflict. Egyptian officials emphasized that any disarmament of Hamas is contingent upon the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and firm guarantees that Israel will not violate future agreements.
Egypt, along with Qatar, has expressed concerns that Israel is attempting to alter realities on the ground in Gaza, such as expanding the buffer zone. Egyptian sources also highlighted the Palestinians' commitment to agreements, contrasting it with Israel's lack of flexibility and continued obstruction of the Rafah Crossing.
In response to the situation, Egypt is promoting a proposal that includes the formation of a Palestinian security force, the deployment of international peacekeepers, and the comprehensive reconstruction of Gaza City, all to be implemented alongside the demilitarization of Gaza.
