The Lebanese military has received a new shipment of weapons and ammunition surrendered from the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp. This handover, coordinated with Palestinian authorities, is part of Lebanon's broader initiative to remove arms from all twelve Palestinian refugee camps in the country. The weapons represent the fifth batch surrendered by the Palestine Liberation Organization, following a joint statement by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in May. While the Fatah faction has complied with the disarmament process, other groups, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, have refused to participate, citing ongoing restrictions on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
